PROJECT

HOPE

We have come together to bring you this rewarding international social development project. We intend to teach Southern Indian communities to use recycled plastic bottles and locally sourced materials to create affordable and sustainable solar light for people with limited or no access to electricity. Once our product has been tested we will start to plan lessons on how to train to build these solar light bottles. Finally, we will select volunteers from the Hope team to travel to the Southern Indian regions to teach and implement the solar light bottles in areas that are deprived of electricity.

We are addressing the major problem of pollution in two ways, firstly by using a renewable energy source we can begin to reduce air pollution by decreasing the use of fossil fuels. In addition, this renewable energy source would mean a one time buy for these families which offers an affordable solution to these communities. The significance of this project with helping the reduction of India’s air pollution is great, knowing that in 2016 India was the third biggest emitter of CO2 holding 6.24% of the world’s emissions.
